In the village of Penderyn, at the foot of the Brecon Beacons, the Welsh Whisky Company began distilling in 2000, and in 2004 sold the first whisky made in Wales for more than a century. Its water rises in the national park. The house style is light, fresh and fruity, often finished in Madeira wood, with peated and sherry versions alongside. Independently owned.
