In the hills of Saitama, Chichibu was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, from a sake-brewing family going back to 1625, and was the first new whisky distillery licensed in Japan for thirty-five years. Its tiny stills and Japanese oak washbacks set off a revival of small-scale distilling across the country. The spirit is intense, fruity and bold for its age. Venture Whisky's.
