About Mars Shinshu

High in the Japanese Alps at Miyata, Nagano, some 800 metres up, Hombo Shuzo, a shochu house from Kagoshima, built Mars Shinshu in 1985 with stills brought from Yamanashi. Demand faltered and production stopped for years, but it was revived in 2011, and its single malts, sold as Komagatake, now thrive in the cool mountain air. Clean, fruity and gently malty. Hombo's.
