On the Morvern peninsula, looking across the Sound of Mull, Nc'nean was founded by Annabel Thomas and began distilling in 2017, its name drawn from a Gaelic legend of the Queen of Spirits. Its first master distiller, Jim Swan, died just before the stills were lit. It makes only organic, unpeated spirit, and in 2021 became the first UK whisky distillery to reach net zero. Independently owned.
