About Isle of Raasay
On Raasay, the long, quiet island in the shadow of Skye, the Isle of Raasay distillery became the first legal distillery in the island's history when it began work in the late 2010s. Founded in 2016 and built around a Victorian villa on the shore, it draws its water from the island's own ancient rock and makes both lightly peated and unpeated spirit, marrying them into a distinctive island house style. It is young, and proudly so, part of the wave of new distilleries putting small Scottish islands back on the map. A single cask here is a taste of something genuinely new, made where whisky had never legally been made before.
