About Benrinnes
On the lower slopes of Ben Rinnes, above Aberlour, Benrinnes was founded in 1826, washed away by a flood three years later and rebuilt in a farmhouse's outbuildings. From 1974 to 2007 it ran a singular partial triple distillation, and its stills still condense in worm tubs, which leave the spirit heavy, meaty and faintly sulphurous, a thoroughly old-fashioned Speysider that blenders treasure. Diageo's.
