About Old Pulteney
In Pulteneytown, the herring quarter of Wick, Pulteney was founded in 1826 and for decades could be reached easily only by sea: barley came in by boat and whisky left the same way, and many of its men also fished. Its water still runs down a lade built by Thomas Telford from Loch Hempriggs. Sea air is credited for the spirit's briny, honeyed, gently oily character. Inver House's.
