On the Cawdor estate near Nairn, Brackla was built in 1812 by Captain William Fraser and in 1833 became the first distillery granted a royal warrant, by William IV, whose 'King's Own Whisky' it became. Long fermentations and tall stills run slowly for plenty of copper contact give a light, fruity spirit that takes beautifully to sherry wood. Part of the Dewar's family (Bacardi).
