About Tamdhu

In Knockando, above the Spey, Tamdhu, 'little dark hill', was founded in 1896 by a group of blenders who wanted a spirit of their own. For decades almost all of it vanished into The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark, and it was among the last to malt all its own barley in Saladin boxes. Mothballed in 2010, it was revived in 2013 as a distillery devoted to sherry casks. Ian Macleod's.
