About Speyburn

In Rothes, on the Granty Burn, Speyburn was built in 1897 by Charles Doig, pagoda and all. Determined to fill a cask in Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year, its makers ran the first spirit on 15 December, in a snowstorm, in a still house with no doors or windows, the men in overcoats and mufflers. They managed one butt. The spirit is light, sweet and fresh. Inver House's.
