Guy Rateau grows and distils in the Petite Champagne, the second of Cognac's great crus, which wraps around the Grande Champagne on the same chalky soils. Like many small growers, the family's brandy rarely carries its own name, so a single cask is a chance to taste a grower's cognac unblended and at natural strength: perfumed, fruity and long.
