About Caroni

On the site of a Trinidad sugar factory, Caroni was established in 1923 and made heavy rum in pot and column stills, much of it for the Royal Navy's ration. As the sugar industry declined it was closed in 2002. In 2004, Luca Gargano of Velier found its warehouses still full of old casks, and the bottlings that followed made Caroni a cult. Lost.
