In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Allen Katz, a bartender tired of running out of rye, founded the New York Distilling Company in 2011 with Tom Potter, co-founder of the Brooklyn Brewery. They distilled for years before Katz was happy, then released Ragtime Rye, made with New York-grown grain. Spicy, bright and built for the cocktail shaker. Independently owned.
