About Lagavulin

In a sea-bitten bay on Islay's south coast, beside the tumbled ruins of Dunyvaig Castle, Lagavulin (1816) completes the great Kildalton trinity with Ardbeg and Laphroaig. Its 16-year-old, deep, smoky, wrapped in sherry and time, is one of the most loved whiskies ever made. Diageo's, and rightly famous.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottles single casks under numeric codes rather than distillery names, so a label reading 111.403 means cask 403 from distillery 111. That distillery is Lagavulin, in Islay. More on Lagavulin at Wikipedia.
