About Springbank

In Campbeltown, once, improbably, the whisky capital of the world, Springbank has been run by the same family since 1828 and refuses, gloriously, to modernise. It is the last distillery in Scotland to do everything under one roof, from turning its own malt on the floor to filling its own bottles by hand. From its stills come three different souls: Springbank itself, the heavily peated Longrow, and the triple-distilled Hazelburn. Made in tiny quantity, and chased by the whole world.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottles single casks under numeric codes rather than distillery names, so a label reading 27.403 means cask 403 from distillery 27. That distillery is Springbank, in Campbeltown. More on Springbank at Wikipedia.
